What is the PRF Protocol?
The concept of PRF (Platelet Rich Fibrin) is based on the centrifugation of whole blood without anticoagulants nor bovine thrombin (nor any other gelling agent). At the end of the spin, a fibrin clot containing the majority of the platelets and white blood cells is obtained. PRF acts as a scaffold for growth factors, which accelerate wound healing, including platelet derived growth factor (PDGF), transforming growth factor beta1 (TGF-β1), and vascular endothelial growth factor [1-5]. The expected objective of these growth factors is to accelerate the soft tissue and bone healing. Numerous international publications are available and demonstrate the effectiveness of PRF in many indications: oral surgery (implants, bone grafting, periodontal surgery, extractions, etc…), Orthoepedic, cosmetic and dermatological surgery.Today, PRF is recognized around the world as a proven technique for bone regeneration.
What is needed to create PRF ?
The technology required to produce PRF is simply an appropriate centrifuge and a set of instruments. The PRF protocol is very simple: A blood sample is taken without anticoagulant in 10-mL tubes which are immediately centrifuged at a specific RPM and time limit (the standard A-PRF TM * protocol, on the appropriate centrifuges with certain specifications, calls for 1300 rpm / 8mn, while the i-PRF TM * protocol is 700 rpm / 3mn for females and 700 rpm / 4mn for males).
According to a paper by DavidM.Dohan,DDS et al. (emphasis ours): "The absence of anticoagulant implies the activation in a few minutes of most platelets of the blood sample in contact with the tube walls and the release of the coagulation cascades. The success of this technique entirely depends on the speed of blood collection and transfer to the centrifuge. Indeed, without anticoagulant, the blood samples start to coagulate almost immediately upon contact with the tube glass, and it takes a minimum of a few minutes of centrifugation to concentrate fibrinogen in the middle and upper part of the tube. Quick handling is the only way to obtain a clinically usable PRF clot. If the duration required to collect blood and launch centrifugation is overly long, failure will occur: The fibrin will polymerize in a diffuse way in the tube and only a small blood clot without consistency will be obtained." 1

PRF Box
The PRF Box is an extremely important instrument. It helps to: Deliver high quality membranes and constant thickness, and Recover the exudate: hydration of biomaterials.
Preserve the membranes during surgery.
Red 10ml Glass TubesThe red glass tubes are used for making PRF clots/membrane. Box of 100 tubes.
White Plastic Tubes, 9ml The white tubes are used for making the liquid PRF. Box of 50 tubes
Blood Collectors
Venipuncture can be done by the Dental Surgeon (if he is trained) or by the nurse. Material: fast collector BC10. Boxes of 24 collectors.
Tourniquet
The tourniquet is used to perform a blood drawing.
Tube Holder
Is used to hold the tubes and let them rest after the blood drawing.
PRF Mini Tray
Used to prepare membranes, Separate the fibrin clot from the red blood cells - Cut the membranes - Fold the membranes - Make «punches»
PRF Bowl
Is used to mix the membranes cut into small pieces with biomaterials. It can also be used for the cutting: Put the membrane into the bowl and cut it with PRF scissors.
PRF Scissors
Allows to separate easily the fibrin clot from the red cells and to cut membranes into small pieces.
PRF Forceps
Is used to remove and manipulate membranes.
PRF Forceps “Giraffe”
The forceps giraffe is intended to tunneling the PRF membranes for surgical soft tissues procedures: introduce the forceps in the tunnel, open the forceps, block the PRF membranes and pull to place the membranes in the correct position.
PRF Double Spoon
Allows collecting and handling the bone filling materials in the recipient sites (alveoli, sinus, and goshawks implants).
PRF Compactor Big
Allows compacting and tamping the bone filling materials in the recipient sites (alveoli, sinus, and goshawks implants).
PRF Compactor Small
Allows compacting and tamping the bone filling materials in the recipient sites (alveoli, sinus, and goshawks implants).
PRF Pad
Is used to position the PRF membranes easily, anywhere,using the pad as a cake server. The pointed end of the pad can be introduced in the sinus.

** Choukroun et al. described a technique for generating PRF by centrifuging autologous blood without an anticoagulant or other chemical agents in glass tubes 1,2,3. The yellowish fibrin clot forms in the middle of the tube a few minutes after centrifugation.
